They do that because the plates are occupied with the soup atm.
Is the bowl hot? Is the handle less hot?
Maybe it’s so you can drag the bowl around without touching the hot bit. … Kinda like the handle on a cup of hot tea/coffee/cocoa?
I usually eat like this at home when there’s no clean bowl.
