Because we came of age during the initial cell phone ringtone boom, with abominations like Crazy Frog… We’ve been over it for decades.

I mean… You just hold it like a telephone? Lol… Surely she’s used a telephone?
Same. I also get phantom vibrations sometimes so it’s a toss up for me.
Yeah but then you’d be lying to your wife in order to save 1 minute of boot time… Doesn’t seem worth it.
tbf, inxi is surprisingly powerful (dunno if that’s the word… Insightful maybe?).
Lol you just said liberalism is the same as fascism… Stopped reading there.
Also helps when you see a user you previously tagged confirming that you were correct the first time.
Uh this sounds awesome, care to share?
Yep, that’s certainly one major aspect. And just look at all of the corporations already bending the knee and the guy isn’t even in office yet.
Sorry man, I’m not going to suddenly start giving a shit about what Mitt Romney says, just because it seems to align with my already held beliefs.
Billionaires or not, they don’t have control of state militaries (yet at least). In fascism, the state is at the top, and corporations bend the knee and become an extension of the government to be used at the whims of its authoritarian leader.
What it ultimately comes down to is power and the capacity for violence. It doesn’t matter how much money you have, if a government can just drone strike your entire family, does it?
Since the people in charge went full fascist.
You keep saying this shit about me not recognizing non-Americans as people? Please tell me where I said or even implied anything of the sort.
Seems like you’re projecting.
But truly, please bring to my attention where I’ve indicated that I don’t believe non-Americans (or anyone for that matter) are human so I can correct it.
You are clearly incapable of a nuanced conversation. As I said wayyyyy back earlier in the thread I believe, I am well aware of the atrocities that the US has committed. I am not denying any of that. You seem to think that I am for some reason.
I could be wrong, but I believe they TikTok ban stuff was in motion before Oct. 7 (assuming that’s what you’re referring to). Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
Because there’s no critical thought about who is delivering that information to you, where they got it from, what biases and/or agendas they may or may not have, etc…
If you are learning about the world through 15 second videos of a random internet stranger talking about a subject, then you are going to end up with a fucked up (and just objectively incorrect) worldview. But I guess it’s OK because they have a friendly face.
Yeah, and…? Does that mean we ignore the one under CCP control because… why? It’s not fair?
Also, I’m not questioning the data as it’s clearly about when they began collecting data, but that chart looks a little… sketchy. Like you pulled it from your Great Aunt’s Facebook feed in 2014. Where is the data from? That does not appear to be any kind of valid source I’m aware of in the corner. When was this made, and how much has changed since then?
US corporations are absolutely doing this as well, but that’s an argument for more regulation not to grant China free reign
Exactly this. This is their only argument against it, and it’s trash. Yeah, no shit, we know they are all doing it. Yes, we all agree that they should be dealt with as well.
Literally the only “argument” you people have.
“Wah, the other ones do it too!” yeah, no shit, and they should also be regulated. I don’t think anyone here believes otherwise. Maybe, just maybe, it makes sense to prioritize the one that’s under the control of a foreign adversary.
And even if you don’t prioritize it, this is the one that we currently have the opportunity to regulate, so why would we refuse that just because we’re not doing the same thing to the other ones RIGHT NOW? Once again allowing perfect to be the enemy of good.
Do you see now how that’s not a real argument?
It’s like if a student got caught cheating on a test, and complains that they shouldn’t get an F, because “everyone else was cheating too.” Were they cheating? Maybe. Is it relevant? Not at all.
I’m continuously astonished that people like this exist (and so fucking many). How do they survive day to day?
