Your current optimism is well founded.
I buy quite a few early access games on Steam. I read the reviews first. If it seems okay, then I buy and play. If I don’t like it then return. Seems pretty safe if you proceed with caution.
But, could it? I don’t think an email would rip off the arm quite as effectively.
I use the app to order then they bring it out to my car. No need to deal with people, fake or not.
