Ready to be surprised but I doubt they would leave it on mobile only, bringing it to the desktop feeds into their model for a cohesive brand environment across all your devices.
Given the number of preexisting huge breaches, I’m feeling a bit jaded at this point.
Like the title says, it’s meant to be a Tumblr-esque experience.
You may be thinking of something else, Slack doesn’t have a self-hosted version.
I am honestly a little confused, what are they trying to bring to the table that isn’t covered by Bing Chat AI already?
With that domain, I’m not that surprised. Actually even says Mumbai News on the page so it’s non-native speakers writing or converting for English.
But that would be creationism? Pastafarian Creationism.
So basically “NextDoor: Fediverse Edition”.
I’m not against but I think uptake will be difficult because, depending on your starting region you may be competing with an established product and because there is a heavy venn overlap between people who care about decentralization and those who care about privacy and wouldn’t want an app tracking and to some degree giving away their location.

Bottom is just a classic meme, top is a guy flying near full size “don’t tread on me” and “thin blue line”( fanatic police support) flags. Many would argue these are varying levels of contradictory. It’s also a very MAGA thing to do so you can draw conclusions from that as well.
While I’m told such places exist, I have yet to knowingly interact with a business officially doing this for employee computers.
Federate, let them get a taste of sweet Lemmy content, then cut them off. Will make the Threads experience feel broken for native Threads users.
Follow tags for subjects you like and peak at the global/federated feed now and then.
My mind went the same direction as you at first, now I’m wondering if OP is saying that they try to suggest Mastodon as a better place to friends, because they are complaining.
In my experience, that’s being a bit generous.
There will always be pirates, for some the act itself is a kind of hobby and part of their identity, but I think we can see in the reaction to some current and past, pre-inshitification, services thatt here is a legitimate point where many, if not a majority, would be happy to pay for a worthy service to support the media they enjoy and avoid some of the acquisition and self hosting hassle of pirating.
Yeah, the chance employers naturally just start paying the same # of people the same amount of money, for 2 days less work, which feels like the implication in this post, is functionally 0.
Came in expecting a story of tragedy, congrats. 🎉
Maybe I’m just a doomsayer, but the same backlash that has been oh so successful at keeping climate change/environmental policy in a good place? -_-
