  • Some emails that came in looked as if they came from vulnerable people themselves, asking for help. It may be that they haven’t received or understood the message to update their address book.

I did not interfere with any of the e-mails, as this would go beyond the objectives of this investigation, but it is concerning, to say the least, that these individuals will never receive a reply. They would not have received a response anyway, but it makes me wonder how many cries for help get lost in abandoned e-mail inboxes.

This honestly depressed me, I know firsthand many people who need help from someone who has more or less knowledge to understand something as simple as the migration of a service or an email, it is really depressing not only to know that this happens, but also that There are people who are such bastards that take advantage of this.

Could someone explain to me how the author gained access to “I forgot my password” accounts that were not his but were in his domain? I mean, I understand that it’s on his domain, but just because I have the domain mydomain@domain.com does that mean I can redirect all emails to the main domain? Excuse the dumb question.

Edit: Thanks for the clarification! Now I understand!

  • Thanks for sharing your work at Lemmy! I say this because although I don’t use Reddit, I’m sure that logically because there are more users there and being more famous, it is the preferred platform for developers to share their work.

Think you’ll implement a replay feature in the future? I love that feature.

And is there any chance of porting your job in the future to Wayland? Currently there is no program (only OBS, as far as I know) that allows recording in Wayland, it would be great to have more options.

  • I don’t want to be pessimistic, but I consider that in this scenario (as a Battlefield 2042 player) there are only three possible options:

    1. The company kindly activates Proton/Wine support, but they don’t do it because they love their users, they do it because they realized that specifically the Steam Deck has a certain market share that they are losing.

    2. Valve makes an agreement with those companies and with the anticheats and allows us gamers to play from Linux as if it was Windows but not bypassing the anticheat, but implementing some kind of anticheat also for Wine/Proton.

    3. The one I consider most likely, we’re screwed and we’ll have to wait for some hacker (or experienced users) to figure out how the hell to make the anticheat think we’re in Windows when we’re really in Wine. It seems to me that this happens with some Wine prefixes that I have no idea make it possible to play LOL on Linux.
