71·2 months agoYeah, sorry for being snarky, but the Fediverse refers to all federated software. So, Fedia.io for example, is an MBin instance. Which is different than Lemmy and Mastodon but they can all interact with each other. They’re all part of the overall Fediverse. So your comment was just kind of awkwardly phrased and redundant.
Which is both Fediverse and Mastodon.
Well… yeah.

It’s likely to just be some randos doing it for the lulz and IA was vulnerable for whatever reason. Book publishers have sadly been enjoying plenty of success in court against IA. They don’t need to get their hands dirty.
Yeah, I’ve see people speculating that it could be some corporate hit-job on behalf of book publishers, and I get it, that exotic possibility is attractive, but reality is usually much more mundane. It’s likely to just be some randos doing it for the lulz and IA was vulnerable for whatever reason. Book publishers have sadly been enjoying plenty of success in court against IA. Dammmn that takes me back! I had a subscription to their magazine in high school in the early 2000s. HOLY CRAP they’re still selling the Corporate America flag too! Seeing all those tech company logos on the modern version makes me feel so old though… Shit.
The article suggested it was a bug, not me. My use of it was only in reference to the article so it’s not a point I’m going to defend.
I agree. There’s also just no reason to give Meta the benefit of the doubt here. Bug or not they’ve done nothing to earn such a charitable response from anyone.

43·11 months agoThe article in the reddit post you shared is misleading. According to the S1 filed with the SEC, spez’s current base pay is $450,000; in 2023 he got roughly $792,000 in performance-based bonuses. The rest of that 193 million is options.
1·1 year agoIt’s too bad about Artifact shutting down. I jumped on that app as soon as it was publicly available last February and thought it had a lot of potential.
