I read that its a good idea to use a vpn to a very small, rather poor country. When the podcast has dynamic ads, it may not have one for your country and you can get it ad free. Havent tested it though.

That does not solve the problem. Its just an app installed onto the firetv. You do not replace the launcher or circumventing launch screen ads.

Which OS is good for this? Which remote can be used? I use my Stick to launch several apps like Plex, Smarttube Next, ARD Mediathek (German TV series). Not needing anything more. But a snappy remote and support for various audio and video codecs is key.

That has nothing to do with piracy or not. Its just a device to play media. You can use a firetv to 100% stream pirated content via kodi or plex and still have to see this shit.

95% of the sites I tried jDownloader works. Nice thing is, you can just copy and paste the URL if the site, no need to crawl for the video stream url.

OCHs were way more common in Germany than in other countries. Biggest boards like boerse and gulli used only OCHs. My guess is its because of those laws that torrenting was risky. But the truth is that for one pirate who used vpns, torrents and OCHs, there probably are a hundred people using streaming sites.

Dunno if this fits the bill but there are apps which dont have the same features as the web. Strava for example doesnt let you download a gps track of rides of your friends without premium. The feature is available for free on the website when in desktop mode.

I am very happy with podcast addict on android. Powerful, not the cleanest ui though.
