Yeah, having to customize with env variables is not great, and adding bookmarks is much easier in superfile. Anyway I suposse one does not set bookmarks to often. Plus nnn was so fast I just tapped they keys to get to the directory I needed easily. Once I learned most shortcuts I was flying trough operarions.

It had some functionalities that nnn did not have like displaying processes or favourite directories and such. In the end I got back to nnn because I read that superfile had internet access plus the fact that I use a graphical file manager for things that nnn or many terminal file managers can not do with extensive plugins.

This file manager made me ditch nnn, very well done!

I get the idea automation, its great when it saves time and effort but when it represents a minuscule chance of chopping a limb off you it should never be implemented to the public.

Jokes aside, Edubuntu should cover you parental controls and Education tools needs. And since it comes with Gnome by default the UI should comfortable to your children. I suggest diving into it if you need more something sprecific. Good luck!

I got the same issue, I was using Gradience to set gtk3/4 themes and that panel never got themed. Apps like Overskride have this issue too. I already had my preferred apps themed correctly so I did not bother.

I recommend SimpMusic for you, lets you use Youtube Music privately with no ads and download music with no restrictions. As for how I download my music… my lawyer told me no to answer that.

I think most people hate Snaps because Ubuntu is replacing .deb packages with snaps with no user prompt and that is a cardinal sin in Linux against the freedom and power of the user. Being “bloated” can’t help either when package maintainers do all what they can to ship programs light and simple. So it goes against at least two Linux principles.

I read the study, it only compares just one iPhone to one Google Pixel phone and it concludes that Google just sends more accumulated data, not more data type. The reason for that is because DroidGuard send a full device integrity report to google to check things like the bootloader, mounts, if its rooted, if its an emulator, etc… Plus its checking for API hooking like Frida as the study testers where using. Droidguard is a huge obfuscated blob of data so sending loads of obfuscated data keys makes sense. The study concludes that while google calls for more data, the type of data regarding privacy is the same for iOS and Google Android.

If you do not care for for modification is one thing, but if one wishes to do so one should be able to do it. I agree with you that Google are a piece of shit, just that I think the same of Apple. I think that buying a phone for $1500 when there are other options for $400 is insane. From what I have read most developers and regular people who want privacy and freedom try to de-Google their phone, or run a custom ROM, and on their PC they run Debian, Arch or whatever. If that i not an option for you that is fine, but is not for nothing that people are running away from Apple and Google while they are getting their asses sued, it is not for nothing that government institutions around the world are replacing Windows with GNU/Linux.
