The PWA is very decent for a basic browsing experience. There are a few in the works, most notable being Artemis which is now in public beta I think. It uses the new Kbin API which is also in beta.
For now, the app can only be used with the artemis.camp instance, but soon Kbin.social and the rest Kbin instances will use the API and be usable with the app as well. It is inspired by Apollo btw
Try out Kbin, as well. Personally I have none of the usual Lemmy complaints
I use my PC for a combination of office work, programming and gaming. OpenSUSE is also my choice!
I have been running OpenSUSE Leap on my home server for 3 years, and I moved from Fedora after many years to OpenSUSE Tumbleweed on both my work and home (gaming) PC. I am super happy!
Having done the same trip (years of Fedora, then OpenSUSE) I’m super happy with my experience
Just stay away from anything that has a dedicated Nvidia GPU. I have tried everything, still no distro apart from popOS! that didn’t massacre my battery…
Artemis is in beta right now, and you could ask to enter the beta (check their community) or find the APK (it auto-updates btw). Otherwise, @ me on Telegram or Discord
Just FYI, Kbin can block instances. So of that issue is important to you, check it out
+1 to OpenSUSE!
There is always (Open)SUSE in that branch as well
I contribute as much as I can, mostly through StreetComplete. I see it as a hobby when it isn’t too hot/cold outside, to take a walk around my area and map houses and addresses. I find it super important
I’m super happy with OpenSUSE. Cannot recommend it enough, having it on my home server for 2+ years and never had the slightest of issues
Being an OpenSUSE Leap user, I’m super happy and suggest it to everyone, but I’m also a bit scared about the future of Leap specifically
Hopefully kbin API will become compatible with Lemmy’s soon
Having worked with both as a dev, can’t really understand MyBB over phpBB. I found it much friendlier to both the users and the devs
Imho, it is better. Being free is an extra bonus
I believe it would be against the ToS of Reddit to do so, so I wouldn’t hold my breath for it…
There are many options for a PC application as well
