I’m thinking they might addsome engine-side telemetry we don’t know about, but they’re refusing to actually say anything about how they’re tracking this.
How does Unity track my installs?
All they’ll say is what amounts to “just trust us, it’s fiiiine”
X/Tweet/thing from Stephen Totilo
NEW - I got a major update from Unity about their new fees
- Unity “regrouped” and now says ONLY the initial installation of a game triggers a fee
- Demos mostly won’t trigger fees
- Devs not on the hook for Game Pass
This is a truly pathetic attempt to save face. Fuck Unity, its now proven definitively that they cannot be trusted for current and future projects. The only thing they’ll learn from this is to not be so loud about these sorts of changes.
I did edit it out, I didn’t realize they’d deadnamed her and while I’m fine with relaying drivel, I’m not fine with perpetuating deadnaming
Good. Free trial is continuing to be all but the 3 latest expansions, and is expanding with the next expac launch. It’d be nice if I could switch my account to limited-access so I can do free trial content on my main even if my sub lapses, though.
But them being driven by subscriptions has helped them keep the game focused on player enjoyment. I hope it never goes F2P q-q
It’s too funny, I can’t stop laughing at it.
It’s available on github too https://github.com/vector-im/element-x-android/releases/tag/v0.1.6
I’ve not played it myself, but I’ve heard the final act jumps the shark pretty bad.
A downvote isn’t “I don’t think this should be here”. It’s just “I don’t like this”, don’t agree, thing it’s bad/wrong, whatever. Up/downvote systems work under the process of the wisdom of the crowd, and as a result, works under the assumption that while the ways in which people use these tools and the reasons may be different, having a simply up/downvote system means they’ll average out into something more useful. It doesn’t work all the time of course, but it does work generally.
People just found it not unfunny or distasteful. This post is getting downvoted because it comes off as whiney and annoying.
Blockchain is a tool for scammers used for scamming, and has almost exclusively been used for such.
No, this is already solved without scam shit tied in.
No, he’s saying that the product is ineffective at what it aims to do.
It’s pretty bad when your CEO disparages your product that much. It’s like if Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said they’d be switching to Google Workspace because Microsoft Teams was inefficient and difficult to use.
Absolutely scathing.
OnlyFans announced it too, but walked back on it later.
The strange aversion to moderation by means of defederation.
I’m not sure increasing punishment is actually an effective manner of combating this. The social implications of being a child predator are likely to have a more deterrent effect than the penal system imo (I don’t have data to back that).
I, personally, am an advocate for making treatment for pedophiles freely, easily, and safely accessible. I’d much rather help people be productive, non-violent members of society than lock them up, if given a choice.
Yup, no information on how they actually get that information. The only assumption I can make is that it’s some sort of telemetry in the installer or the engine
