I use Bazzite (which is steam now but community maintained for more PCs) for my htpc and PopOS for my main PC, both play every game I can throw at it. Maybe it’s time to try it out. I started with a windows dual boot and found myself using it less and less, until just a couple months ago I deleted windows completely

The idea is that even if you’re using pirates windows, you’re still in the windows ecosystem, you’ll be more likely to pay Microsoft for other things. So in a weird way, yeah you didn’t pay for windows, but you also didn’t buy an Apple either, and now you’re using windows apps and programs.

Get a good quality set of earplugs. I got some Hearprotek ones and I don’t know what voodoo they have, but I hear the artist crystal clear and can’t hear any crowd noise. Not the people behind me, not my partner right next to me, none of that. But I can hear every note Crystal clear. Oh and my ears are happier at the end of the concert too

Yeah, bad take. I’m doing well myself, but I had to go into well over 6 digits of debt and about 10 years just to get here. For most people that’s just impossible. They’re not asking for porches. They’re asking to make enough to not worry about eating. I’d say that should be a thing even for unskilled labor.

When it was focused on the users it was an amazing platform. I remember after every job I’d go and fill out a review, I’d add salaries, everything. Then they destroyed all of that trust, started nagging me to participate , and I had to use my account to browse things (remember when you could just search for the company without logging in and look them up?)

Like all modern corporations they got greedy and destroyed the platform for short term profits, while completely ignoring the long term

Glassdoor officially became dead to me last year, when they made everything “opt out” in terms of privacy. It made the rounds and I know they lost a good chunk of reviewers. With this it makes sense, engagement is probably low and they’re desperate to bring numbers up.

Screw them, they became company focused instead of user focused, there’s zero reason to give them reviews anymore. Companies can pay to remove reviews, they are not as private, there’s no reason.

As both an instance admin and a mod of a few communities, I can already tell you those are just expectations of any community already. That’s not new, that’s already the baseline. You have to find something even better than that.

Marketers explicitly and silently rebranded AI to AGI, a term that I think was literally just made up. I think they should have been reversed, llma deserve a new term, but not AI.

But you see that wasn’t the problem. The problem was that they knew some new term would fall flat. They wanted investors frothing at the mouth - so they just changed the definition of AI to make that happen.

Personally, I don’t care if celebrities come and join, even Taylor. Honestly that’s one of the reasons I’m okay with threads starting to federate, I see celebrities joining there and then we can sub from our instances. Best of both worlds imo.

One good thing IMO about threads federating, that we get the celebrities, we know they’re verified, but I don’t have to join corpo social media.

I have a manual process for admitting people, do I need to do anything if I know exactly who is on my instance, or do I need to do anything to protect my instance from other bad acting instances (beyond defederating, which I do when I notice a lot of spam). Any queries you recommend?
