I wonder if where you have your account affects how you notice where the trolls are from? Like I don’t notice trolls coming from .world much because I just see a username, where a troll from .ml is username@lemmy.ml
.
They did change one thing. You used to be able to get electricity at wholesale prices from certain providers. When the rates went crazy during the 2021 storm and people’s crazy bills for turning on the lamp blew up on the news, they shut down that option.
These rate surges do hurt customers, but now it’s in the form of rate increases when their contract expires.
If I were launching an air raid on a flat earth, I’d have the planes fly over the edge and under the earth. They wouldn’t be able to see you coming.
I don’t think you’ll find a color laser printer that size. They use pretty large drums to hold the toner. It’d be hard to even find a mono laser printer in that size.
Wow. And here I was thinking Elmer’s glue was named after the Borden cartoon cow. It’s nice knowing you can learn history like this from Lemmy comments.
Newer generations have decoders/encoders for more codecs. 8th gen Intel Core cpus have good HEVC support while you need the more recent gens for good AV1 support.
The author complaining about Threads defederation from spinster was a pretty big red flag. It’s on every mainstream mastodon blocklist I’ve seen and it’s obvious he knows why. Really leaned into that “how can they discriminate against women!?” dog whistle that TERFs love to use.
Edit: Oh, it turns out he’s married to the person who runs that server. He’s also worked with Gab, used some of their code for his soapbox, and seems to have been involved with Trump’s truth social. No wonder his feelings are hurt.
They haven’t though? I just checked the list of blocked instances and they are both still there.
That paragraph is part of the new terms and conditions document they released.
The ads thing is because you probably have a different idea of what an ad is then they do. Usually when they are talking about ads, it’s self-promotional stuff. Teams being built in, Onedrive asking to be setup, and especially Edge constantly begging you to give it a chance.
There’s also that link to the Microsoft store for Candy Crush in the start menu of fresh installs of Windows 10. I imagine that’s what kicked off the whole ‘loaded with ads’ thing. That’s one anyone can agree on.
It’s considered a slur against disabled people in Britain. It has the same origins in the US, but now the word is mostly used to describe high energy kids who can’t sit still.
That’s not how tax write offs work. The only way to claim that money in a write-off would be for the business to also claim it as revenue. That would even out, with no tax savings. Businesses also don’t handle donations that way, they usually serve as a collection agent that just passes your donations on without being able to claim it towards their revenue or their tax write offs. The only person who can write-off their donation is the person who actually made it.
The reason businesses do it is for marketing. They get to put out a press release saying “They helped donate $10 million to puppies without borders.”
