I sort of miss the screws too but it’s so much better when a cable accidentally gets yanked and it just comes right out instead of transmitting the force into whatever it’s attached to.
I believe they mentioned that in their essay I linked to in this thread yesterday, they looked into starting a bounty system for new features but the Lemmy devs told them not to do it so the idea was abandoned.
From what’s in their essay it doesn’t seem like they are dictating what the devs prioritize. Regardless, I don’t see how they could dictate anything since they lack power over the devs. You keep characterizing them in negative ways, what’s that about? I feel like I’m missing something here.
Characterizing the concerns they have expressed as “whining” seems uncharitable, and “code or shut up” really doesn’t sound like a good response.
Beehaw has just published a thing explaining their current situation and it includes some conversations with Lemmy devs where it looks like they are being told to fuck off and stop being a part of Lemmy: https://docs.beehaw.org/docs/important-questions-decisions-and-reflections/beehaw-lemmy-and-a-vision-of-the-fediverse/
I know the devs can’t control who uses the software but apparently they want Beehaw to quit using Lemmy. It seems strange to me, especially after reading this comment, that’s why I asked.
I heard you guys have recently told Beehaw to quit using Lemmy, is that not correct, or how does this square with what you are saying here?
I didn’t read the whole thing but I made it to your quote and I think their point is intended to be anti-racist. They are saying films have a sort of universal human experience or perspective or whatever you want to call it that’s been “white” by default but shouldn’t be.
Windows 11 is kind of technically still just Windows 10 under the hood.
They run the internet now so they really know how it works.
I tried to daily Linux on my laptop but gave up after about 6 months. The two major issues for me were the speakers amp and the fingerprint reader not being supported. The speakers wasn’t that big of a problem because audio still worked so I could use headphones or Bluetooth. The fingerprint reader not working grew to be a major annoyance though, it’s so much more convenient to use than typing out a password.
I’ve got an FX era noctua still going strong on a 5900x. They even shipped me the adapter kit for free.
Where are you getting “Democrats are Marxists” from the image?
There’s a “Getting Started” app built in to win11 that is both completely useless and totally unremovable by any method without breaking the OS.
I’m taking it as an opportunity to learn win11 since I have to deal with it at work. My plan is to buy a Framework or System76 laptop down the line and give Linux a second chance as my daily driver.
I tried to daily Linux on my laptop but gave up because it didn’t support the fingerprint reader or the speakers. Windows 11 drains the battery faster and feels sluggish more often.
Not an expert but my first thought is check DNS. I would make sure both devices are using the same DNS resolver and are resolving the hostname correctly.
Not OP, but it’s still lack of hardware support for me. I tried to daily Linux on my laptop and gave up in frustration after several months because a few key pieces of hardware are not supported and seemingly never will be.
