You’re right, it was rude. Sorry.

User JohnFen on ycombinator’s hacker news said it nicely and I’m lazy, so:
PPA means that my browser is doing the spying instead of a third party directly. That’s certainly a privacy improvement, but I don’t consider it sufficient.
“Sufficiently private” is a subjective call. I don’t want to be spied on. Whether or not there are technological “privacy preserving” features baked into it doesn’t alter that fundamental fact.
All that said, this isn’t a bad enough move to get me to stop using Firefox, as long as I can keep it disabled. It does mean that I have to view Firefox with suspicion, though. I can’t consider the browser to be my “user agent” anymore.

Has Mozilla done sometime to deserve this skepticism?
Yes, their “privacy friendly ad measurement” that’s opt out is a faux pas that I just can’t forgive. I used to donate to the fuckers.

it’s drama about some media clown’s wallpaper app
It’s a win for humanity if it causes more people to leave and stop thinking it’s a public forum.

it’s “your lifestyle and reddit” slop
Ads have become the new normal
I haven’t seen an ad in ages on the internet. Also, ducks in the park are free.
What are you blathering about, it’s never been cheaper or easier to have a personal computer than now, however you define it. You can go full paranoid from coreboot up or you can just get a steam deck and dock and have a nice arch in desktop mode. You can meaningfully use it with internet, Firefox with ublock origin, Signal to talk to your family without selling your soul or whatever. Is this written by a chatbot?
The only problem I have with it is that it doesn’t have support for 12-key Japanese input.
Tried it now, it’s really great but doesn’t have the full pc layout that includes our accursed Č,Ć,Š.Đ diacritics. I’m actually really satisfied with my jugaad solution - downgraded version of gboard, frozen in time and cut off from the internet by Rethink VPN. There’s no reason to update it, really, which is lucky since newer versions start randomly lagging if they can’t reach google’s fucking servers.
It’s a slightly humorous tiktok video with Trump’s insane rant about a person on a sinking boat choosing between death by sharks and electrocution. Once again, sorry.
When it comes to Android, this should be standard. You can block all the bullshit with a few clicks, some apps don’t need internet access at all (such as the fucking keyboard, Google).
If you don’t use cloud backup there’s much better gallery apps
That’s why they have stealth enshittification techniques to disguise them.
Pardon my generalization, but literally no one is interested in threads
You don’t raise temperature while the frog is in the pond.
It’s a shitty toy that’ll make some people sorry when they don’t have any photos from their night out without tiny godzilla dancing on their table. It won’t have the staying power Google wishes it to, since it’s useless except for gags.
But, please, Verge,
It took specialized knowledge and specialized tools to sabotage the intuitive trust in a photograph.
get fucked
Also, fuck your “a” in that font. I’d punch that fucking glyph in the face if it spoke to me on the street.
Imma block you for this, it’s not personal tho
